Getting your blood taken
The first point of contact should be your Local GP surgery.
There is a bit of an art form dealing with Receptionists at GP’s, everyone of them is different and every practice is different, however most of them are now wanting to make more money so it should not be too much of a problem getting them to take your blood for a fee.
You need to book an appoinment with the nurse who does the blood tests.
Expect to pay between £20 and £30, you may get lucky and get it done for free.
Phone up your GP’s surgery and ask if they will do a ‘Private Blood Test’.
Sometimes they will say that you need to see the Dr. for them to refer you, you don’t really need to do this, just explain to the receptionist that it is a ‘private blood test’ and you are going to be sending the blood to a lab for analysis, all you need is for the nurse to take your blood place it in the vial (bottle) and that you are going to send it off to your nutritionist. You don’t need to be wasting the Dr.’s time or waiting for an appointment to see them.
If you have no joy with your local GP Practice then you have 2 further options.
1. Contact your local BUPA or Nuffield Hospital, here is a list of them, they are geared up for this service so you won’t have any of the ‘dancing around with your local practice’
If there is no BUPA or Nuffield Hospital close by then the second option is
2. Find a GP Practice in your area that will conduct a ‘Private Blood Test’
Visit this site http://RevaHealth.com
Add Blood test and then the town that you are in
You will get taken through to another page
You should recognise the names of the local GP Practices, you can fill in the contact details form on their site but I would take the initiative and find the phone number of the practice that is listed and phone them direct.
The practice will probably ask if you are registered there etc., say that you have seen their details listed on a website that provides a private blood testing service and can you book an appointment with the nurse or speak to them to make an appointment for a blood test.
Let us know when you find a practice that does the blood test for you and we can add their details to this page which will make it easier for others in the future.
