Holiday and lowered immune function

My mate Freddy went on holiday last week, guess what he got ill straight away – this is really common and I’ve wondered what the reason was for a while, recently I was doing some research into hormones and discovered the link. When we work we have higher levels of stress (normally) so we produce cortisol and adrenalin in order to do our jobs well. Leading into holiday often we’re very busy wrapping up lose ends, checking everything is going to run smooth whilst you are away and all the last minute stuff we gotta do like packing!

Likelihood is higher adrenalin and cortisol around this time – here’s the link, as soon as we go away our adrenalin levels drop off (after the plane journey)! – BUT cortisol stay high – cortisols powerful effects result in lowered immune function when levels are chronic (acute is good) we’d die without cortisol.

Also we’re exposed to more germs on flights due to the air conditioning systems.

So – often a few days into a holiday we’re getting sniffles –

Here’s what you can do;

Take glutamine every day – during the last week and during holiday.

Take zinc and vitamin C losengers before and during the flight.

Take some hardcore immune boosters with your 1st aid kit for holiday – by hard core I mean an immune pack or some Chinese herbs

Don’t underestimate boosting your immune system, it could be the difference between winning and losing.
