Hi Matt,
Maybe you could mention why Turmeric is such a good spice to use?

Hi mate,
turmeric is a major anti-inflammatory spice – the active ingredient is curcumin – it’ll lower all inflammation in the body.
use it carefully – more is not better I would aim for 2-5g per day.
Ideally I’d use it at night a few hours after training. (you need some inflammation to start the recovery and muscle repair off properly)
load of studies supporting it’s use in heart disease, cancer and other inflammatory disease both as a preventative and symtom improver.

Hi Matt
What about intestional absorption properties of curcurmin ?

hi mate,
there’s a few supplements out there with claims on greater bio-availability than standard turmeric.
my view is that you’ll absorb enough to do some good – whilst perhapds not getting full absorption.
invitro studies on intestinal absorption on rats – seem to suggest that it reaches tissues shortly after ingestion.
with herbs and spices it’s worth getting a really good source as many are packed and a long time between preparation and consumption

the only downbside I find using turmeric is that it stains the kitchen serfaces I add it to a lot of my food especially rice when i have it.
