The microwave debate – My view
By
Hi Matt,
I do have a question for you.
You may wish to share this answer with others as I suspect they will have similar concerns.
Is it safe in your opinion to use microwave for cooking/reheating food?
Best
Don
Hi Don,
I’m not a fan of microwaves at all.
I believe they denature proteins and may have harmful effects in the body.
It doesn’t take long to heat stuff up in a pan, steam it – whatever.
I prefer not to use them and I’d advice others not to as well.
There’s some studies on the effect microwaved food has on immune function and whilst these are neither well controlled or large they do provide interesting and believable evidence in my opinion to avoid them.
I’d already made my mind up instinctively when they first came out as a teenager.

Hi Matt,
Very interesting to read this, are you then advising that if we reheat food we quickly do it in the pan?! is that fully safe? sounds like a gd idea, I've just never done it!
Cheers

hey Tom – when I said 'quickly' I meant still to heat the food thouroughly!
especially when from frozen -
