Immune System supplements – When to stop training when you have a cold
ByWhen to stop training- Immune System Support.
For many sports people it’s difficult to know when to stop training when you have a cold or the flu. There are some heavy duty chinese herbal supplements that I recommend and also provide a good rule of thumb as to when to take abreak from your training.

Hi Matt
I agree that sometimes it is necessary to rest from training if your immune system is not operating at its peak. Echinacea is also a good supplement to use when you have a cold or virus. However, this should only be taken for a couple of weeks at a time, not on a continuous basis.
Does anyone else have any favourites?

Elderberry Extract. (Sambucol). Extremenly strong anti-viral.
Take this as soon you feel any signs of an infection you'll be cured in 24hrs. One of the best natural immune system boosters out there with plently of good research to prove it

Beta 1,3D Glucan would be an excellent immune supplement to try, and it is safe to take everyday because it actually makes the immune response smarter, it is not just a stimulant like echinacea. The researched and published benefits include balancing an over active immune response, increasing white blood cell counts (if necessary), and enhancing the killing ability of your innate immune cells. The Journal of the American Nutraceutical Association recently published two studies showing the exact immunological benefits of Beta 1,3-D Glucan from a variety of available brands, and the results show that purity greatly determines the effectiveness of a Beta glucan product. The research is available in the PubMed library, or you can read it here: http://www.transferpoint.com/t-glucan300research.aspx

Hi Matt,
I assumed you were talking about my post when you mentioned advertising. What is a plug? I'm not sure if I did something wrong or not.
I apologize if you took me the wrong way, I am certainly not trying to post irrelevant information, and I only linked to the site because the PubMed library can be a pain to navigate sometimes, and the link I posted has all of the comparison studies on the same page.
Just trying to get the word out about Beta glucan because it really is proven to benefit the immune response without any negative side effects. It's hard to condense the benefits without writing an essay. Also, so many people may have already tried it, but it just isn't effective in the small doses most companies offer.
Again, sorry if I went' about this the wrong way, any suggestions you can offer are appreciated. Like I said, I'm definitly not trying to just post blantant advertisements or spam up your comments section.
